Melancolia

Melancolia is an iron sculpture realized by ANDRECO in the frame of ALTROVE Festival 2017 in Catanzaro. The work brings together different aspects of the artist’s research, such as the use of two-dimensional geometric shapes representing projections of complex solids, and a site-specific approach, attentive to the landscape and the context. The sculpture is composed of a plinth and a frame that lets the plants grow inside it, making visible the ability of plants to adapt to the transformations of the territory. The artist’s interest to environmental issues and his training in engineering are reflected in the production of complex and symbolic forms that make us think to the structure of matter and to the ecosystem.
