Tutti i passi che ho fatto nella mia vita mi hanno portato qui, ora

Artworks in public spaces

Il Luogo

The work consists of a plate inserted in the pavement of the square, engraved with these words: “All the steps I have made in my life have brought me here, now”, a phrase that each passer-by can appropriate and interpret in a personal way. Since 2004 the work has been installed in different cities, thus creating an invisible network of distant places and individual trajectories. In Florence the work, curated by Valentina Gensini, was placed in front of Museo Novecento, in relation with the plaque that commemorates the political prisoners deported in March 1944 from the Leopoldine building to the concentration camps. The work invites the passerby to remember, even when the space of the city, in its continuous change, hides memories and collective stories.
