Il Luogo

Museo Revoltella – Galleria d’Arte Moderna was founded in 1872 by the will of the baron Pasquale Revoltella, who donated his 19th-century palace, along with all the works of art, books and furniture he owned, to the city of Trieste.
Over the years, this Museum has had the chance to expand its art collection, creating a true gallery, which now includes works ranging from late 19th century to late 20th century, with works made by Italian artists, from Friuli in particular. Thanks to these acquisitions, the Museum has expanded to two adjacent buildings, Palazzo Basevi, seat of the administrative offices, and Palazzo Brunner, which is home to most of the collections of the museum. Palazzo Revoltella is used as a house-museum.
The Museo Revoltella also periodically organizes exhibitions and educational activities for children and adults.
