MACMa – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Matino was founded in 2011, and today is housed in the prestigious halls of the 16th-century Palazzo Marchesale dei Del Tufo.
This Museum, created thanks to the donations of Gabrieli, Balsebre and Miglietta, now hosts about six hundred works made by Italian artists (also Apulian) belonging to the trend of verbal-visual poetry, such as Luigi Gabrieli, Franco Vaccari and Paola Levi Montalcini.
Apart from completely displaying its collection, the MACMa also organizes periodical exhibitions, events and conventions dedicated to contemporary artists, and actively strives to involve young people and schools, to encourage knowledge about contemporary art languages.
