Luigi Marulla

The wall painting was realized as part of the artistic residency program of BoCs Art. At his arrival in Cosenza, the artist was reached by the news of the death of former football player Luigi Marulla, symbol of the city team. Flavio Favelli decided to dedicate him a work: a wall painting representing the enlarged reproduction of a Panini sticker, but eliminating the portrait, the name and the number of the player, thus composing a sort of abstract monument to the fallen. The personal homage of the artist to a minor football team and its heroes, which brings together personal and collective memories, became a dispute between the artist, the ultras and the Municipality, which led in the first instance to the citizens to complete the work adding the name of the player, and finally to commissioning the street artist Lucamaleonte another mural, now placed side by side to Favelli’s work.
