L.O.V.E.
Artworks in public spaces
Il Luogo
The work, installed in front of Milan Stock Exchange, appears to refer to the word love, but is in fact the acronym for Freedom, Hate, Vendetta, Eternity. The sculpture – a large hand of marble whose fingers, except the middle one, have been severed – is an irreverent gesture aimed at the financial power that the surrounding building represent and at the fascist period in which they were built. Installed in front of Palazzo Mezzanotte, on the occasion of the personal exhibition by Maurizio Cattelan at Palazzo Reale, curated by Francesco Bonomi, L.O.V.E. was later donated by the artist to the Municipality of Milan.
