Il Luogo

The work was donated by the artist to the Municipality of Rome. It was part of a program of refurbishment of the squares of the city, with the aim of fostering the production and fruition of contemporary art. Four large stelae, engraved with abstract forms, are placed on a rectangular plinth. Consistent with his monumental works in Italy and abroad, this sculpture marks the return of the Sicilian artist to bifrontality, which here aptly celebrates the myth of Giano. The reference to the two-faced god, guardian of the gates of Rome, in an area characterized by the ruins of the Servian walls, is an invitation from Consagra to look at the past to enlighten the future.
