Forum Austriaco di Cultura Roma was founded in 1881 under the name of Istituto Austriaco di Studii Storici: the most ancient cultural testimony of Austria abroad. The Venue was built between 1935 and 1937, designed by the Austrian architect Karl Holey, and today, apart from housing the Forum, is also home to the Istituto Storico Austriaco, and the most important Austrian library abroad, which includes over one hundred thousand books.
The main goal of the Forum Austriaco di Cultura is to promote and enhance Austrian culture, and it strives to do so by creating projects of artistic, cultural and scientific value, with a particular focus on contemporary world, also thanks to the creation of tenders for artists’ residencies and scholarships for students.
