Fondazione Querini Stampalia Onlus, housed in Venice, in a building of the same name, was founded in 1869 by the will of Giovanni Querini Stampalia, who decided to donate all of his holdings to create an institution aiming to foster the cult of good study and useful subjects in the field of art.
This Foundation continues to pursue this mission, by safeguarding and enhancing the heritage of this noble Venetian family, by providing the public with a Library, a historic house-museum and some other areas where temporary exhibitions are hosted (contemporary art exhibitions in particular). Since the 1950s, famous artists have been invited to propose projects in line with the history, the works of art and the spaces of the Foundation.
