Arte all’Arte – San Gimignano

Arte all’Arte is a project initiated by Associazione Arte Continua with the aim of promoting the agro-environmental artistic district of the province of Siena and Florence. Each of its ten editions left site and context specific interventions by international artists developed for the territory and its community .In San Gimignano, Anish Kapoor has installed a large chrysalis that occupies almost the entire space of the Sant ‘Agostino tower. Inside the fortress of Montestaffoli Kiki Smith installed Yellow Girl, a sculpture of an enigmatic girl that she replicated with variations in all the three towns of San Gimignano, Poggibonsi and Colle Val d’Elsa to ideally connect them. Joseph Kosuth has engraved on stone a phrase of Walter Benjamin on San Gimignano. Here is a sample of significant artworks.
