The Venue
The work was realised as part of the call for projects A square for Leonardo, launched in 2003 by the Comune di Vinci in collaboration with Associazione Arte Continua, with the aim to reinstate the relationship between the Leonardian Museum, the neighboring buildings and the cityscape. The project is part of Arte all’Arte Rinascimento Nascimento, which invited the municipalities of the technological district of the province of Firenze to rethink the relationship between art, industry and landscape. The winning project for the square of Vinci was the complex installation proposed by Mimmo Paladino, which by breaking the square in segments of different heights restores its overall unity. The new design opened up new points of view and perspectives, organizing the space through symbols that encourage both aesthetic and practical use of space.
