The Venue
The work was commissioned for the facade of the building of the Terme di San Luca, sited just outside the city walls. The installation consists of a sign that, instead of presenting a text or logo, shows the stylized drawing, in blue neon, of a fountain from which the water spurts intermittently, repeated three times. The appropriation of logos as a common place that triggers memory and brings back to the past is typical of the artist’s research. In this case the fountain is modeled on that created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for Piazza San Pietro in Rome. As usual, Favelli brings together distant times and spaces, combining the personal memory of a trip made to Rome in childhood, to a symbol of eternity like the Vatican.
