The Venue
Museo Nazionale di Matera has been located in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Lanfranchi. It has been created from the union of two existing museum institutions: the Domenico Ridola National Archaeological Museum and the National Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of Basilicata in Palazzo Lanfranchi. This Museum also contains a specific area dedicated to Contemporary art, with a collection of paintings and sculptures by local and international artists. The second floor of the building, a big single area, is used for exhibitions, conferences and conventions.
