The Venue
MACRO is one of the most important public spaces dedicated to contemporary art in Rome. It is located in the former complex of Società Birra Peroni, an example of industrial archaeology in the Salario-Nomentano district, expanded in 2000 and redesigned by Odile Decq.
The MACRO holds the municipal contemporary art collection of Rome, which displays on rotation, and aims to become a polyvalent and multidisciplinary center of contemporary arts. Currently is in progress the project MACRO ASILO that proposes the museum as a hospitable institution, open to the exchange and encounter of languages and people, aspiring to a stronger engagement of the visitors.
