The Venue
Fiumara d’Arte sculpture park by Antonio Presti ideally traces the course of the river with the aim of enhancing the territory through the presence of contemporary art. La materia poteva non esserci is the first installation of the project, and it was realized by Pietro Consagra in 1986. It is a commemorative monument dedicated to the father of the commissioner, a large sculpture resting on the river bed, between the mountains and the sea. The work is composed of two leaning elements, a white one and a black one, between which it is possible to walk and that symbolize the contrast between good and evil.
