The Venue
CSAC – Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione was founded in 1968 as a research centre for the University of Parma, and since 2007 has been housed in the Abbazia cistercense di Valserena.
The CSAC was created to preserve, catalogue and promote original items belonging to the Italian visual and design culture, with a particular focus on art, photography, new media, entertainment, architecture, fashion and design, including a collection of about 12 million pieces.
The Museum of CSAC, opened in 2015, allows the public to see (displayed on rotation) the materials stored in the archive, and to deepen the knowledge and the interpretation about the collections. The Venue offers exhibition tours and themed events, as well as educational activities and multisensory guided tours.
