The Venue

Starting from the second post-war period, the Municipality of Prato built a collection of contemporary works of art for the public space that make the city an open-air museum. This interest is common to various Italian industrial centers, such as the city of Terni. The collection is distributed across the city and it is therefore possible to see works both in the historic center and in peripheral areas.
The acquisitions have continued over the last decade in collaboration with Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci which created a strong relationship with the city and contributed to its collection of outdoor sculptures, even by conceiving the external space as an extension of the museum.
Among the most significant works of art: Forma squadrata con taglio by Henry Moore, Exegi Monumentum Aere Perennius by Anne and Patrick Poirier, Waterbones by Loris Cecchini.
