The Venue
CARTEC – Cava Arte Contemporanea is a space dedicated to contemporary art, located in the man-made caves, dating back to the Middle Ages, in the dungeons of the Galleria Comunale d’Arte, in Cagliari.
Thanks to its work, the CARTEC was able to reopen one of the landmarks for the Sardinian community. Indeed, these caves were used as an air-raid shelter, and a place where to safely store the works included in the Civic art collection, during World War II. Thanks to its programme of exhibitions, this Space has now allowed artists and visual operators to create works based on the specific features of the place.
