The Venue
Arazzeria Scassa started its business in Asti in 1957 on the initiative of Ugo Scassi, an experienced upholstery master. Determined to combine tapestry weaving with contemporary art, he established profitable business relationships with artists like Corrado Cagli, Felice Casorati, Giorgio de Chirico, Renato Guttuso, and others.
The Arazzeria Scassa Association, still actively working at the Charterhouse of Valmanera, today promotes and enhances the largest and most important collection of modern tapestries created from paintings made by the greatest contemporary artists.
Guided tours are organized, which start from the areas dedicated to the art gallery, where tapestries are displayed, and end in the artist studio nearby, where it is possible to watch the weavers at work on original 17th and 18th century looms.
