The Venue
Triumphs and Laments is a project of requalification conceived by Tevereterno association of the so called “Piazza Tevere”: the bank of the river between Ponte Sisto and Ponte Mazzini. The wall drawing depicts a procession of eighty silhouettes on a dark background, realized using stencils. Through a participatory iconographic research, William Kentridge represented the most significant moments in the history of Rome from its foundation until present times. The images are obtained by subtraction, through the simple removal of the patina accumulated on the walls with hydro cleaning, but over time it will return to the surfaces: the work is therefore bound to disappear over the years.
