The Venue
Mario Ceroli realized Squilibrio in 1987 The work takes its cue from the famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, known as the “Vitruvian Man”, that is in the collection of Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice. It is a recurring motif in Ceroli’s work: the first versions were made in 1964 and in 1967 were entitled L’uomo di Leonardo and Disequilibrium. The sculpture interprets in monumental terms the iconography of the man inscribed in the square and in the circle, translating the drawing in three dimensions by inserting the human figure inside a cube and a sphere. Donated to the city of Leonardo in 1987, the work is installed at the foot of the Rocca dei Conti Guidi, that hosts Museo Leonardiano di Vinci.
