The Venue
In the municipality of Rotondi on the street Via Varco, artists Eugenio Giliberti, Umberto Manzo, Perino & Vele, Lucio Perone and Peppe Perone have had their studio for years. This is the context in which stemmed Illumina la notte con l’arte di Via Varco, a project of urban regeneration curated by the art critic Marco Tonelli and financed by Regione Campania. The event involved the territory in a series of artistic, musical and performing activities; artists’ studios were open to the public. On the occasion of the tenth edition, the artists of Via Varco were invited to produce five permanent public works to be installed in the countryside. The sculptures and installations are inspired by the characteristics of the place: R-H2O + by Giliberti, which is connected to the path of the Isclero river; while the luight sculpture by Lucio Perone, Il sogno dell’emigrante and the wall drawing paMaronn by Perino & Vele refer to local history and traditions.
