The Venue
The monumental fountain of Dea Roma was created by the Polish sculptor on behalf of Finmeccanica, that donated it to the city of Rome. The sculpture is located in the public garden of Piazza Monte Grappa, in front of the group’s headquarters. It features the fragment of a female melancholic and hieratic face, with direct references to classic sculpture. Like an ancient ruin, it stands on travertine rocks, a material that artist used as a tribute to the monuments of Rome. The sculpture is placed at the center of a low triangular basin, surrounded by holm oaks, cypresses, pines and olive trees evoking ‚EUR” in the intention of the artist – the sacred wood of the Romulean legend.
