The Venue
Pinacoteca Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea Antonio Sapone di Gaeta was founded in 2004 by the Associazione Culturale Novecento, in collaboration with the City of Gaeta. Two years after its foundation, the Pinacoteca was moved inside the 16th-century Palazzo San Giacomo.
This Museum is home to a rich collection of artworks made by 20th-century artists and famous international artists as well, such as Hans Hartung, Ladislas Kijno and Alberto Magnelli.
The Pinacoteca organizes several exhibitions of contemporary art, and since 2004, it has been promoting the prize Una Vita per l’Arte, annually awarded to people who stand out for their work in the fields of production, research or artistic dissemination.
