The Venue
In 1980, on occasion of the first International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia expanded its exhibition area by opening the Arsenale, the historical pre-industrial construction site where the Serenissima fleets were built.
The exhibition spaces have been further expanded since 1999, to accommodate new national pavilions, the Artiglierie, the Sale d’Armi and the Tese delle Vergini, where the new Italian Pavilion is located.
