The Venue
MADRE – Museo d’arte contemporanea Donnaregina, founded in 2005, is located in the building of the same name, close to the Monastero di Santa Maria Donnaregina, and it is the main contemporary art museum in Southern Italy.
The MADRE is home to a site specific collection, on the first floor of the building, as well as a permanent collection, on the second floor. This permanent collection includes the works of the greatest national and international contemporary artists. The third floor is intended to be used for temporary exhibitions, events and performances.
The MADRE promotes contemporary art by proposing a rich programme of activities where the interaction with the visitors is a crucial factor.
