The Venue
The Museo del Novecento a Napoli, founded in 2010, is located in the building that once housed the Carcere Alto, in Castel Sant’Elmo.
The Museum aims to document the production of Neapolitan artists (or artists who used to work in Naples) between 1910 and 1980, from Secessions to Transavantgarde.
Castel Sant’Elmo and the Polo museale della Campania, which manages it, are active within the framework of enhancing contemporary creativity, also thanks to the promotion, in 2011, of the contest Un’opera per il Castello, a prize which has allowed to expand the collection with works by young contemporary artists.
