The Venue

La Reggia di Caserta – Collezione Terrae Motus  represents an important case of integration between a historical venue and contemporary art languages. Inside the  Grande Galleria  of the Royal Palace, which was built in 1752 by order of Carlo di Borbone, the works belonging to the Terrae Motus collection are displayed in rotation. This collection was created by the gallerist Lucio Amelio after the earthquake in Irpinia, and dedicated to the art of the 1980s. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the disastrous earthquake, some works from Terrae Motus collection have found a natural location within the traditional path of the Royal Apartments. With this action of contamination between old and new, a different setting is experienced, to ensure a direct and stimulating dialogue with the extraordinary collection of contemporary art. The Reggia di Caserta also proposes a rich programme of exhibitions and a series of encounters, I Maestri di Terrae Motus, about the artists included in the collection.
